Hello. My name Is Karin (pronounced Kah-reen) Brewster and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Los Angeles, CA, working with adults and children since 2012. My area of practice focuses on the therapeutic relationship, ensuring the client's comfort in sharing some of their most difficult thoughts and feelings with me. I strive to never pass judgment or personal agenda on anyone, rather allowing the therapeutic process to guide their own decisions and choices. My approach My approach focuses on building a therapeutic relationship along with pointing out dysfunction in thoughts and behaviors. I ensure to introduce tools and techniques that range from mindfulness to distress tolerance to emotional regulation while also exploring cognitive distortions causing dysfunction. I am a true believer that what we see and hear in turn becomes our own lens and self dialogue, thus, I find it important to process history to better understand current functioning and end generational cycles. My focus I am comfortable working with a variety of conditions which include anxiety, and depression, those with a trauma history, and those with borderline traits which include problematic relationships and self-harm behaviors. My communication style I strive to ensure my tone and environment are calm and nonjudgmental. I hope that working with me feels comfortable and productive. My journey to mental healthcare Helping others has been my passion since I can remember and that has driven me to get to where I am today as a therapist with over 10 years of experience under my belt. I can safely say that this is what I was meant to do and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to have helped so many people along my journey. My goals for you I strive to review treatment goals regularly in order to ensure progress is acknowledged and new goals are created. My first session with you Clients should expect an empathic and validating first session which includes an introduction of myself while also attempting to get to know the client.
